What is SEI

SEI is revolutionary blockchain technology that was initially launched on Aug 15, 2023.

Created from the Cosmos blockchain with significant changes and improvements. Co-founded by former Robinhood engineer and a former VC from Coatue. At the core, SEI was built to facilitate rapid fast transactions on chain with underlying DEX function on chain. (Similar to the Stock Market, but decentralized on the blockchain).

The average block time & finality is 390 milliseconds, which is incredibly fast compared to that of Ethereum and 40 milliseconds faster than Solana. SEI is capable to handling more than 28,300 batched transactions per second. For comparison, MasterCard can only handle 5,000 TPS.

SEI is more than just a cryptocurrency you can send from one wallet to another. Similar to Ethereum you create smart contracts and decentralized applications. This allows for amazing projects such as JellyVerse, SEIMutants, Seiberians and other great projects that use SEI as the core infrastructure for their projects.

Sei is recognized as the fastest Layer 1 blockchain, setting new benchmarks in blockchain performance and scalability. Supporting multiple execution environments, including the innovative parallelized Ethereum Virtual Machine.

What Can You Do With SEI

When SEI v2 is launched before the end of 2024, you will be able to do all of the following plus more thanks to Wasm & EVM parallelization.

  1. Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAO)
  2. Decentralized Finance (DeFi)
  3. Smart Contracts / Staking
  4. Lottery / Casino
  5. NFTs & Digital Identity
  6. Voting Systems
  7. Health Sector
  8. Data Storage
  9. Music Industry
  10. Plus countless more

SEI is a true contender to the Ethereum blockchain, by increasing transactions per second (TPS), reducing block and finality times, and by reducing fees. If you haven’t already you will want to get some coins and explore the thriving ecosystem.

How You Can Acquire SEI

Are you looking to get some SEI coins? The best place to check first is Coin Market Cap. Here you can find all of the available exchanges and markets that have SEI. For most users with in the United States can get SEI directly from CoinBase with their debit card.
